We all send important messages via email from time to time (or all of the time, in some peoples' cases) and yet read and response rates are going down and down.

Whether you are using traditional email or messaging on social media, one of the biggest challenges facing people today is how to get your email read.

People are swamped with messages every day and most of them just do not cut through the noise. Add to this, the increasing use of automation and peoples' responsiveness to messages and email just keeps on going down.

It is harder than ever to get a response or reply, let alone strike up a meaningful conversation.

Here are my top tips for how to get your email read. I have found that these work in many circumstances whether to existing clients or absolutely cold messaging and, perhaps surprisingly, they work as well (or sometimes better) with senior people.

This is what I do. There is some risk but I have found the benefits far outweigh the risks.
